Is it normal i cant decide whether or not to wear a watch?

I dont get them. Like its cool to wear a watch but i dont understand why people really wear them. Is it like a fashion thing? Or I dont want people to think im like a nerd or something but then sometimes cool people wear them?

Also I dont really know how to get the appropriate size so I dont look stupid because I hate when people wear watches too big or small. Is there like a math formula to decide?

I wear a watch so I can look at the time during class and not pull out my phone all the time. Generally, you can get a salesman help you pick out a watch. Even if you get the wrong size, you can get it resized in stores.

  • Most people wear a watch for the flash of the brand name, like wearing a Rolex. You never talk about your Rolex as a watch, but as a Rolex. I'm not encouraging the materialistic sheep lifestyle, but if you're going to wear a watch, it might as well be a blingy fancy once, because the practicality has greatly declined since everyone just checks their phones these days.

You're right and it's not uncommon for people to wear expensive watches that are broken.

Mmm, I think the math formula might be: The width of your wrist ÷ by Pi r squared or something, but seriously, if you like the look for fashion or if you just want to know the time, then don't worry what anyone else thinks. Personally, I don't wear a watch anymore but when I was younger, I had a Casio like the one John Candy tries to sell without success in the movie, Trains, Planes and Automobiles. Not exactly a Rolex, but there you go.

Most people wear a watch to know the time?!
I wore a watch until I got a phone then they had the time on.
Now I have a Fitbit which I think is amazing. And I don't look at my phone for the time anymore!
But yeh some people said that they buy them for the brand 'hey look at me' just do what's right for you.

    • Yeah but a fitbit at least has other uses. I like wearing watches but im scared people are going to say "Oh hey look at this idiot has a watch that looks stupid and must be a nerd"

I don't care for watches either. I never actually even purchased one. People are really into it though and it's definitely more of a fashion thing. My boyfriend bought me a $2500 diamond Michele watch for Christmas that I don't even wear, lol.

I used to wear a watch all the time before cell phones were common. The watch I had got stolen and around the same time I had a phone so I didn't bother replacing it. Then like 7-8 years later I started wanting a watch again but mainly just for fashion. Sooo...I bought 3 really awesome watches that tell time in different cryptic ways. Problem is, I hardly ever go anywhere and when I do I always forget to wear one. I have $600 worth of watches that hardly ever leave my closet.

In choosing a watch, pick a style you like and try out different sizes. See how they feel, look in the mirror or have someone take a picture of you wearing it.

    • Sometimes I stand in front of the mirror and take it on and off and then decide not to wear it. I think sometimes if it its too small it looks stupid like its a girls watch. I thought for a while then like i dont want people to think im a nerd cause nerds on tv always wear watches and I dont know why

No one is going to think you're a nerd for wearing a watch. If you want to wear one then wear one, you don't need a reason other than you like the watch and feel like wearing it.

Don't waste too much of your life worrying about what other people think. Look in a damn mirror, you should be able to tell if a watch is too big or small for your tastes. You want to wear one so wear one.

It's simple: wear a watch if you like to be able to find out the time without taking a phone of of your pocket. Otherwise don't.

    • I was just concerned what statement I would be making by doing that. But people seem to say that a watch is just tells you the time and there's nothing more to it?

I donno, I mean a gold Rolex or something makes a statement ("I have too much money!"), but I really wouldn't think much of an ordinary watch. Maybe some people would though.
