In my personal opinion I see absolutely nothing wrong with incest. If two people love each other, no matter who they are, they should be allowed to express that love however they see fit. But only if the 2 people are both completely willing and no one is feeling forced in the relationship. Gays have recently been allowed to get married and I have no problem with that. I think one day family members will be allowed to show their love publicly and get married like "normal" folks

    Incest is one of the few consensual sexual things that sends shivers right down my spine, but I agree with you. The usual caveat is that it's much more likely that there's some kind of abuse involved, especially if it's cross-generational. But then... that isn't a reason to make incestuous relationships illegal since abuse is illegal already.

    While I think two people can do pretty much what they like, I'm torn on whether they should be allowed to have children since there's apparently a heightened risk of deformity. But banning that opens all sorts of cans of worms:
    What if the pregnancy occurs accidentally?
    Can the government mandate a paternity test to prove the child was a result of incest?
    Would the kid be removed from the parents?
    If the child isn't deformed, is there anything *really* wrong with what happened?
    There's a much higher chance of a ill child if one of the parents has an inherited illness, but we don't prevent people with a heritable illness from having children. Is that a double standard? (yes)

    So unless I can be convinced otherwise, I'll reserve judgement on that front too.

    That's one thing I don't understand... Why, if you have children with other family members.. How can it cause birth defects?

    But on another subject, I do agree with you here, but I personally do not like the thought of incest. However, if two people truly love each other in the same family (say like, siblings, or Father&daughter, Mother&son, Father&son or Mother&daughter), then I guess that's their choice really. (:

      Surely we're talking about incest between adults here? How can parent/child incest or between siblings if there's anything other than a tiny age gap be ok?

    Interesting point.

    If you're for gay marriage, there's no reason you should be against incest marriage, EXCEPT for the whole progeny thing. I mean, if we're all equal and all deserve the right to love whoever we want, surely incest relationships should be part of that too.

    Well I just have to say that I'm so sorry that you view it as just as it is very immoral. Not only is it immoral but it can also cause birth defects as said above^! Love is NOT sexual!! For gods sake there are many ways of expressing love and acting in a sexual manner is not one of them. There is a difference between becoming sexually involved with someone and simply/purely loving someone which is felt with the heart NOT the genitals.

      That's interesting, I'll check that out, but it makes sense, that's about when you'd start worrying about it if you were breeding animals, not the first generation

      Some people on here seem to think genetic disorders are a punishment for the parents' "immoral" incestuous relationship: I can't see the problem if there's no coercion and only consenting adults are involved

    its ok but the only problem is that it doubles the chance of genetic "family curse" conditions that can screw a kid up, so as long as you dont have children there is nothing morally wrong with it
