Iin: i based my career on a movie

From the very first time I watched Fast and the Furious I knew I wanted to fix/design cars for a living.

My dad has questioned me on whether or not this is the right choice and that its a hard industry aswell as safety especially for girls like me blah blah.. the list is endless. ive proved to him so many times, I fix any car problems my relatives have.

its not like I want to do illegal road
robberies or street race. Is it normal?
anyone else base their career choice on something they've seen on tv or
something similar?

There's a big difference between wanting to FIX cars (covered up to your elbows in grease and other harmful crap and getting average pay) and wanting to DESIGN cars - doing a degree in Industrial Design / Product Design and working in a cool place and getting paid well to do it.

But whatever you want to do, go for it I say.

You got hyped up over a movie.
Just like when I was 8 or so, after seeing a Jackie Chan movie I ran around the house karate chopping the shit out of the air.

I think it is uncommon but, I see nothing wrong with this.
