Is it normal i am fixated on wanting to make a biracial kid?

I really want my kid to be biracial. I gots good genes (thanks daddyio and mommyio) and since they wifey will have the looks of an angel, throw in my intense looks, and the kid will turn out pretty exotic!

I might sound like a mad scientist but it is like creating a new species! Haha. More seriously though I am not so much attracted to women of my own race and culture. Though that I think is a lifestyle, common interests and like-mindedness reason. So the wanting a biracial kid is not too random, but more like inevitable.

Even genetically there are so many advantages to biracial procreation, though this fact I learned just recently.

Some biracial celebrities: Kristin Kreuk, Lenny Kravitz, Giancarlo Esposito, Keanu Reeves, Mariah Carey, Norah Jones, Aubrey Plaza, Rashida Jones, The Rock, Wentworth Miller, Tiger Woods, Vin Diesel.

  • None of that for me, thanks. I value my heritage far too much.

From what I understand, being biracial is a much tougher road than not. Apparently, growing up biracial you are accepted by neither group and tend to get a great deal more abuse from both races.
I certainly do not think any less of a person if they are biracial, but as a parent, I would think twice before making life much tougher for my child (children) than it already is going to be. It's one thing to fall in love with someone from another race, but quite another to set out to create a child that may suffer because of your whims.

It sorta depends on where the OP lives too. Where I grew up it didnt matter, but in more inner-city areas the suffering you speak of is most definitely there.

      • Correct. I am from Dubai. 80% immigrants 20% natives. Plus racism doesnt really exist here though natives get priority in many matters but then again which country doesnt do that

I say new you say different. Lion + tiger = liger

It is pretty common to have a preference for people of a race different than yours and absolutely nothing wrong with pursuing it. If its what you like then go for it. Only white supremacists and a few old southerners still think there's actually an issue with it, and that's assuming you're white, if not then even they don't care lol.

the way you describe it is a bit weird but in general no it's not. i am TECHNICALLY bi-racial but it doesn't really count because my parents are just from two different European countries. i don't find myself attracted to many people from either of the countries my parents are from and would probably want to have a child with someone of a different race

If that's what you want then hey go for it. I personally will keep it in my own race.

    You're a weirdo. Also:

"Even genetically there are so many advantages to biracial procreation, though this fact I learned just recently."

Is completely unfounded. I'm curious where you got that information.

    • Thanks I take weirdo as a compliment ;o)

I bet u didnt google before u posted this. Im feeling too lazy to write u a mini research paper so feel free to google the keywords: recessive genes multiracial

If u are lazy too like me here is a criminally short summary: recessive genes have a higher rate of affecting individuals the similar both mates are to each other. Multiracial (cross) mating = better immunity to genetic diseases

I like how you deleted my comment because I actually provided a peer-reviewed article.

I didnt see nor delete anything. Any comment that has a link does not appear until after it has been moderated. Not an uncommon protocol in certain forums.

Ok, I actually found a study:

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1448064/

Title:Health and Behavior Risks of Adolescents with Mixed-Race Identity

Conclusions. Adolescents who self-identify as more than 1 race are at higher health and behavior risks. The findings are compatible with interpreting the elevated risk of mixed race as associated with stress.

        • Health and behavior risks? Let me guess without even clicking on that link. Study was conducted in the US?

After clicking on it, it was. I guessed US because race implication is such a huge deal in this country.

But look what I found in the conclusion, "This literature is not entirely consistent. In some studies no differences are found between mixed-race and single-race children." You should be glad it says that because it means you no longer need to bother with this conversation. I am done here since I have now lost all respect for you in this debate. Cheers
