Is it normal i am actually a nice person?

I am probably the most hatefully acting person on this planet, (e.g. antisocial, major asshole, like death metal) but when I'm with people I know well, like my family or my dog, they actually say I'm one of the nicest people they know. I'm confused by this, and would this be shocking to anyone I got to know well?

  • You like death metal? Fucking hell! The rest I could forgive but a certain taste in music just can't be forgiven! You're a monster!

To a perceptive person, this post could suggest so many unflattering things about you.

If you're calling yourself an asshole, that probably means you're proud of it, which in turn means you've just got your family fooled. Bringing up your taste in music in relation to your personality probably means that your "taste" is just fabricated to suit your identity, or worse, your mood. You probably think being "anti-social" makes you some kind of mysterious enigma, but labelling yourself such, and enjoying the characterization, shows that you care about how others percieve you, which is, I probably don't have to tell you, the opposite of anti-social. If you really were an anti-social person, you wouldn't be here, now would you?

If there were anything besides outward politeness or kindness to prove the quality of your character, you'd never be able to hurt someone by being an asshole. If you're a mouldy cake, it doesn't matter how much frosting you slather on yourself, you'll always be revealed to be what you are underneath as soon as you're cut into. How about instead of manipulating your family into believing otherwise, you at least have the decency to be frank and show your true colours.

See? If you go around trying to be someone or something you're not or try to hide something you are, people are gonna be able to read whatever they want into it, and as I've shown above, some of it could either be quite revealing or damning. Moral: Just be you! If you treat everyone the same and some people still think you're an ass and others thinks you're an angel, that's just them. Don't give anyone the power to trap you into their own idea of you.

Wow, my comment comes off really bitchy. Sorry for turning my bad day death ray on you. Though, I do want to re-stress the importance of not altering your behaviour to suit other people's expectations or ideals. I should have just said that in the first place instead of going on a five day rant :/ Anyway, hope you were able to weed through the snarkiness. It's not at all apparent looking back, but I totally meant well.

Tell me please, how did you train your dog to talk? Do you think your dog means it when it actually says that you're one of the nicest people it knows, or do you think it is just saying that because it wants you to keep feeding it?

Of course your family is gonna say that. Are you actually a nice person? Cause if your an asshole to everyone else outside your closed circle than you really aren't.
