Is it normal i always wonder how old threads resurface?

I always browse new posts then recently commented, and every so often a few posts from a few years ago will pop up, occasionally there'll be a few older ones dealing with the same topic and its obvious someone searched for a problem they're dealing with, but most of the time it's just one old thread from years ago about some totally random topic that someone commented on and I always wonder how they came across it, anyone else?

    They probably either clicked on of the random links presented at the bottom of each story/poll, looked through the headings under "More to check out", clicked the randomiser button or were interested in a side poll.

    I'm thinking there may not be as many people on INN as we may think. But if you go with the flow theoretically other people will be directed to the post you commented on that hasn't received any lovin in say 4 years and a new convo started.
