Is it normal i’m still confused about the way i acted on my 13th birthday?

I’d rather not go into too much detail because it’s rather embarrassing, but when I turned 13 seven years ago, my family tried to surprise me, and I didn’t react very well to it. I don’t think about it often, but whenever I do I struggle to understand why I reacted the way I did.

You need to provide more information than that for us to be able to truly decide whether it's normal or not.

Maybe you just don't like surprises?

I bet my bottom dollar it was something incestuous.

Maybe the family walked in on the OP while they were sexually experimenting on the dog?

(Disclaimer: I am in no way promoting, or condoning such behavior. Just throwing it out there as a possibility for the sake of furthering our collective human knowledge and so forth. As we all know such preversions are not accepted and are frowned upon by our beloved management here at Is It Normal. Now please excuse this interruption and return to your turd munching rim jobs.)

    Things are still pretty vague.

Just remember that kids do not always know how to react to things. We just don't have the maturity level to know how to act at 13.

On my 14th birthday, my class threw a B-Day party for me. And I made a comment on how I didn't like the Happy B-day banner, or that it didn't look good ,or something, and the adult said to me "You know, Larry worked really hard on that.",and he was right. I don't know what I was complaining about. At age 14,I think I just didn't know any better.

    Most ambiguous post I've seen.

Teens often do things that are irrational and make little sense, and I'm sure most people cringe when they remember some of the stuff they did in their adolescence. It's a difficult time for many, what with all the hormonal upheaval in themselves and their peer group, and the challenges of transitioning from being a kid into an adult.

I've got a few embarrassing memories myself, and I decided a long time ago that the best way of dealing with them was to think of my teenage self as not being the same person I am today.

  • We all act differently when surprised like that. I mean you’re being surprised it’s a shock there’s no right way to be. I probably wouldn’t act crazy and excited over it cause I’m not really into surprises. If anything I’d probably have a boring reaction. While others may be more into that sort of thing and have it bring joy to them or whatever it does.

99 percent of posts that say "I don't know what I was thinking when I was 13" or something along those lines are incest posts. Trying to skirt the rules are we OP?

    • No. I cried because I was confused about a surprise that I was happy about at first. Maybe because I was upset my family spent so much money, or that it didn’t fit with what I imagined, or I was put in the spotlight unexpectedly. But it had nothing to do with incest.
