Is it normal getting random deafness in an ear, followed by a loud ringing?

I'm not sure if this is something to fret over.

It's completely random. Sometimes I get deaf in one ear, which is immediately followed by a very loud ringing, and gradually restores back to normal. After that, I might not even get it in the next half a year. But I'm getting it constantly for the last week now, a few times a day, And it's getting annoying. Sometimes it's followed by vertigo, which feels like i'm floating in air and lose conciousness with the world, though I never lose balance and fall down. I was also diagnosed with tinnitus, that may have a connection.

Is it normal? Do a lot of people get this? Or can it be a case of something serious?

This is a very bad sign. People who are going deaf often experiences this. You should get your ears examined and you might need a hearing aid.

I Agee with the above. Get to a doc before it gets serious. Untreated ear infections can lead to meningitis, which is on the rise right now.

It means that someone is talking about you and from what you've described they are talking some serious shit. Have you pissed anyone off lately?

Its nothing, maybe your ear is doing a self check of sound. My ears do this about once a month, maybe twice. My hearing is perfectly normal.
