Is it normal for women to slouch so as to not appear taller than me?
I am a 5'6 man and I notice that some girls/women will either slouch, or bend their knees, basically not standing at their full height, so that they try to not appear taller than me, especially when they're wearing heels. It's not usually women who I don't know who try doing this, but women who I am sort of familiar with in real life, whether at work or at a party after I get to know her. At work there is this young woman about 5'8" or so and she tends to do this a lot around me. Last week I met a woman at a counseling event and she was around 5'4 but because of her heels she had a slight height advantage over me. She was standing straight before we sat down and talked one on one, but I noticed that after we had a handshake and a conversation she was slouching all of a sudden as she was walking with me. Is it supposed to be kind of a respect thing? I don't understand it.
