Is it normal for things to be better with the lights off?

My friend and I were having a discussion about sex and whether or not it is best to have the lights on. I was telling him about an article I read, things that are turn offs for men. It said that one of these things is when a woman is insecure and tries to cover up before, during or after sex. This includes but is not limited to: immediately turning off the lights, diving under the covers, shielding her breasts/vagina/butt as she scuttles out of the room.

He said this is true. On the other hand, he said, it's also quite unfun to have the lights on because he feels like he doesn't know where to look. This is in the case of missionary, I suppose. Think about it. Into her eyes? The whole time? Sounds awkward.

Personally, as a female, I would think you could avoid all this by putting your head in the crook of his neck. But I'm not sure how it is for men.

In summation, what IS normal? For you? For anyone? Do you like the lights off? The lights on? Is it at all awkward? Does it depend on the relationship, i.e. a one-night stand or a long-standing commitment?

It all depends on the relationship, the mood and so on. I suppose people have their preferences as well. I really like to look down and watch. It's a huge turn-on for me. Imo if you can look into each other's eyes, that's a sign of true intimacy. It also means you can be sure that he's not fantasizing about someone else lol.

I'd say in a relationship lights on or off is okay things shouldn't be awkward with your partner ya kno? but one night stands or fuck buddy's can get a little weird with the lights on depending on how well u know the person..... that's from my experiences.
