Is it normal for someone to try to make you feel guilty when they did something

Is it normal for someone to try to make you feel guilty when THEY did something wrong? Maybe, they're trying to excuse themselves by passing off the blame. I don't know :(.

A friend of mine (not such a close one, but someone I've known 15 years), did something that was ethically sketchy at best and could put someone in danger at first.

She's trying to make me feel guilty for not seeing things her way and is angry at me for sticking by someone I've known for significantly less time, but I'm way closer to.

I feel guilty because I've known her so long, but I can't stick by her knowing what she did. Is her defensive behavior normal? I'm not used to friends behaving this way.

I usually keep my distance from people when they start behaving in such ways. Some people I know go through phases of questionable ethics and if I can tell it's about to happen I try to talk to them about it openly. Sometimes there's nothing I can do to stop friends or family from making stupid decisions and all I can do is hope nothing too bad happens

It seems like some people just have to let the bad out every once in a while. As long as they don't try to drag me down with them, I'll still be their friend but I might keep at a distance from them until they chill out. If they start endangering other people, warn the people involved if possible and give the friend an honest, stern dose of tough love.

She doesn't sound like someone I would keep in my life. Maybe it's time to cut ties with her.

It's pretty common for people to "pass the buck" onto someone else . I don't know the scenario since you didn't explain it to us . I think you should try and express your self and explain your actions , hopefully the friend comes to a resolution or apology . If the friend insists on being angry with you and becomes distant , I suppose decide if you need them in your life or not .

I may sound mean, but I do this a lot! If there is a way to pass the blame on, do it! If you can avoid punishment by letting someone else take the heat go for it, because if you are smart enough to find logic in your way of thinking, you don't deserve the fine/jail time...
