Is it normal for shrimp to make your lips swell and your throat itch?

I'm worried I may be developing a shellfish allergy. Maybe this has always happened and I just now am noticing it, but it's freaking me out.

It's only shrimp, not other kinds of shellfish.

It's an allergy. You may want to stop eating shrimp.

I had this on and off with mostly crab and shrimp. You really should avoid shellfish because this kind of allergy can change dramatically from time to time, one day it may just cause lip swelling and tingling but next time it could be anaphylaxis. There are also shellfish derivatives in different products like vitamins etc.Be careful.

It's an allergy. Go to the doctor!!!! Or, even the Emergency Services.

You'd best get this checked out by a doctor. You may think it's only shrimp, but there are other things that people who are allergic to shrimp are often allergic to as well, and they could be much more toxic to you.
You are dicking around with your life on this one, be warned.

  • Thank you so much for your input. I'm terrified of anaphylaxis (as well as Epipens), so I'm not taking this lightly. I have an appointment at an allergy clinic later this month, and I've been pretty cautious in the meantime.

I just posted because I thought, maybe I'm just being a hypochondriac as usual. But 10% is my lowest rating, and I've trolled here before. lol
