Is it normal for relationships to be on and off again forever?

I kind of believe in on and off relationships and think they're legitimate unlike the majority who looks down on them. Before I experienced this myself, I already looked at these kinds of couples in this way. I just sense that they were meant to be they just have their ups and downs. After all, there is no perfect relationship and its actually a good thing to have some space and time off from each other as opposed to always staying together forever while one is probably suffering and wants to get out and the other looks happy but she/he probably is just scared of being alone.

So these on and off couples come off as more mature. I don't see why they have to be looked down on. There's a reason that brings them together and theres a reason why it doesn't work out. They love each other which is why they come back to each other but its either the wrong time, busy, outside factors, immaturity, etc. Theres just so many factors that get in the way but none of them define their relationship. I know from my experience which looks like we're wishy washy on and off, my bf is the only person I wanna be with. Like I rather be taking time off, struggling, etc with him than be with someone just cause the relationship is smoother. Now unless that someone gave me the same feelings as my bf did AND our relationship went smoothly, I don't feel like "moving on" to find someone else. I think once you find someone who you feel at home with, and just makes you feel this sense of comfort, you can't just cut them out. Not only do I love him, but I love us and I hate all these annoying outside factors that aren't letting us be together.
