Is it normal for people who are not black to try to sound black?

So I'm watching this YouTube video and this Vietnamese guy in his 20's is talking about the different places he is going to eat with his friends. He is trying to sound black and is using black slang words. People don't know how stupid they look talking like a Black person when they are not Black. Its like me being from the USA and making myself sound a British person because I think the British accent sounds cool. Hip hip cheerio mate!! What do you bloakes think?

People who are white and try to sound black should be ashamed of themselves.

    • Quite right my good man, hip hip cheerio and all that good stuff. I'm Korean but I'm just beside myself listening to all this bloody good British pop music.

It's a trend, and like most trends, it makes the practitioners look stupid.

I've seen it a lot.. I'm not guilty of this though. When I see it it makes me laugh. It's usually easy to tell if they're just faking it or were raised around it.

    • Yeah it is, and for those who were raised around it, fine. Like if I was raised around Irish people I might have an Irish accent too. But it seems stupid for someone who grew up in Alabama to have a British accent just because they listen to British music and think the British people are cool.
