Is it normal for people to resort to cussing in arguments?

Is this just straight up toxic?? I'm talking people who throw around harsh words such as the c word, b word and other things at their partner. I for one believe that you can argue and fight without resorting to cussing at someone like a mad person? I'm asking this question because the relationship I am currently in, my boyfriend has called me many things while we have thought and I'm considering leaving him because of it. I think a grown adult with a mature mindset would have more control over themselves than that. What do you guys think? I mean... where does the line get crossed over into emotional abuse? Or is any name calling at all considered emotionally abusive? Thoughts?

It's emotional abuse when you tell him it hurts your feelings and ask him to stop, but he refuses.

No its not normal, if what he says hurts you emotionally it's because he knows that it will hurt you & it might be intentional.

I'm usually very intelligent in my discourse however when I'm angry the F* word is rampant.
