Is it normal for people to get mad because you check their stuff on facebook?

So, I have been in this situation a few times. I tell someone "Yeah, I saw that on your Facebook", and they start freaking out. And then they are like: "why would you check my Facebook!?"... And for me it is just so stupid and unexplainable why people act like this. Seriously, they add you on Facebook and they have all their shit posted there, but they don't expect you to see anything there.

So, is this attitude normal?

    They sound stupid. Everything you post on there goes onto the public news feed. Its not spying at all.

    I have said what you said (oh, I saw that on Facebook) to numerous people and they all reacted fine because duh, they posted it where everyone can see it!

    If they don't like people checking out their Facebook page, well why the hell did they have one in the first place? It is a social media site.
