Is it normal for people to be unpleasant just because the're having a bad day?

Not only it annoys me when people mistreat others when they are having a bad day... it also disturbs me that for many it is an acceptable excuse. A personal story of mine, my dad was usually nice, but he would always mistreat me and my mom after a hard day at his job; however, my mom would always defend him anyway, using the excuse I mentioned before.

The opposite situation also bothers me. Sometimes I am complaining at people for bad stuff they do; but they just assume I am having a bad day.

So, what do you think people? Is this normal?

we all have those moments. it sure is nice when our friends and family can forgive us for being less than pleasant. i dont believe we should always use it as an excuse, but the saying, "dont poke the bear" is quite fitting in these situations. after a long hard day no one wants to be bothered with trivial things. And if you started whining at me for being cranky after a long day, I'd probably get more cranky. that only adds fuel to the fire.

It takes a moment of objective reflection for one to realize when they are imposing their negative emotions onto another person due to their own individual circumstances. This truth becomes temporarily blinded by the individual's obsessive reflection of negativity, which they have permitted to control them. The same may be happening to you when others accuse you of having a bad day; it can take even the best of us a while to recognize our own belligerence and the distance to which a single remark can carry it.

I would say yes, it is normal but it's not how we are supposed to act and react.

Yes, I think so. People in a situation will act like people in that situation (how could they not?) We've all been stressed or freaked out or threatened by other people wanting to kill us. It's natural that we have a response.

It depends on what you do. I have ADHD and in a place that I don't like my mood-swings are about five times worse and they are already kinda bad.

So basically i just snap at people if they disturb me with nonsense conversation when i'm already upset.

But at my worst i just go "please stop asking me how things are, you know i dont like it here ..." or "YES" *angry voice.

Humans, unlike the other animals, can choose how they act, or react. There is no excuse for ever treating another person badly, but we are imperfect creatures and few of us do actually control our actions or emotions. As a matter of fact, there is absolutely no excuse for treating ourselves badly either, but few of us realize that.
