Is it normal for my mom to act like this?

She is never willing do anything with me really. Like you know in movies parents like beg their teenagers to hang out with them, but it's like the opposite. My mom isn't abusive or bad or anything, she just refuses to do things with me that I like. I've sat through so many romance movies and things like that, that I really hate because she asks me. But she refuses to do the same? She refuses to watch a movie I like ever or do anything I like. If she's not into it herself, she jut won't do it.

She does it for my brother and step-dad though, but she won't do it for me. Even now that I'm older and not a teenager, we still can't hang out. I feel like the only time she speaks to me is when she wants a favor or she feels guilty about something. I know we don't have a lot in common, but I really want to have a close mother/daughter relationship with her, but it seems like she just doesn't want to put forth any effort...

I'm 22 now, so I don't know. Maybe I'm too old to even care about it at this point.

    well sounds a bit selfish to me... and sad that she does it with others but not you. i dont think there is much you can do about it tho. some people have that kind of relationship with their parents and some dont.
    the best advice i can give is to maybe talk to her and express your feelings.

    You've still got plenty of time to build a relationship with your mom. Perhaps you should back off for a few years. As they (whoever THEY are) say, 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'.
    Good luck. I never was close with either parent and at odd times I wish I had been.
