Is it normal for my friend to skype his girlfriend multiple times a day?

My friend Skypes his girlfriend at least once a day, but more often 2 or 3 times, even more sometimes. He's 20 years old and he lives like 2 hrs from her but they see each other almost every weekend. Even when they see each other for a whole weekend he'll come home and Skype her almost immediately. They talk for a few hours every session...what do you think?

    They're probably in love with eachother. Seems normal to want to be with the person you love, even if it's on skype.

    I don't know if you can ever really define normal with these things, because it's just what works for the couple, but as long as its not interfering with his work or he's rejecting every bit of social time with you guys to Skype her I don't think it's excessive.
    I've been with my bf over a year, we're 22, and we're currently at different universities and see each other roughly every 2 weekends. sometimes he will Skype me twice in a day like if he got interrupted before and still wanted to talk later, sometimes he will Skype me and then later call me or sometimes we won't do anything except text for a few days. varies. since Skype is free maybe he's just taking advantage of that over expensive calls, or maybe he does it so that he doesn't have to text her all day cause its quicker. I'd say as long as they're not living out of each others pockets being a hermit in their rooms all hours of the day on Skype and like i said, refusing to watch a movie with you lot or go for a pint then thats a bit OTT and clingy but even so, if it works for them then not much you can do!
