Is it normal for my boyfriend to stare at me and talk while he's sleeping?

The other night while my boyfriend was sleeping I took his hand off me and turned over then he said loudly "woah woah woah woah!!!" Then said something about fixing a scooter, sat up on his elbow with his eyes open looking at me, I chuckled and kissed him and he laid back down then he asked snidely "what are YOU so hyper about anyway? I'm sooooo tired..." The entire time he was ASLEEP. He is not a sleep walker but he does occasionally talk and mumble. Once he even answered a phone call and yelled at his grandpa IN HIS SLEEP. Alarm clocks have to be put across the room or he will shut them off in his sleep. Is it normal for him to be so interactive while sleeping?
