Is it normal for my boyfriend to be this controlling?

We have been dating for 1 year and 1 month. For a while my boyfriend wants to know my e-mails and passwords, and my facebook account. He doesn't like me talking to people who he thinks are total 'peverts'. Plus he has conditions I have to follow, and if I don't follow them he nags me, and tells me how I'm always breaking my promises, and how I'm such slut even though I never cheated on him. He says he does it because he wants me to be safe, and he loves me. I don't believe someone should tell what you should do or what you shouldn't. If I break up with him he said he would go kill himself. When I told him my feelings he got all hurt and started to harm himself. He has a bad childhood and a family who doesnt care about him they nag him everyday and they use to beat him. I'm the only thing left but I need Help is this a normal relationship?

    He is not normal... But still, help him, and don't feed his problems, don't give him your passwords, tell him he must learn to trust you.

    You can't fix him. You can't save him. However, you CAN save yourself. Beat feet outta there.
