Is it normal for me to suffer throat related distortions from smoking marijuana

So for a bit over a year now I've smoked marijuana regularly and have rarely experienced pain or anxiety related side effects until now. Two days ago I smoked a lot with some friends of mine and ended up suffering severe side effects in what I can only describe as extremely painful throat distortions. After smoking I felt like my throat was being assaulted with a sharp instrument and occasionally my mouth would feel distorted in several ways, like feeling like the roof of my mouth had just flipped upside down. These symptoms ended with the high and, after some research I concluded it was probably anxiety from that particular trip, but the next day after smoking again the exact same thing happened again. Is this normal and could anyone explain it? Thanks.

Here's a great idea: STOP SMOKING MARIJUANA!!!
    It's illegal and incredibly unhealthy!

Take a break and next time you do it, do it with someone you feel safe around or maybe just by yourself. If your anxiety is what is causing it you need to do it in a place where you don't feel anxious.

You can also quit, because I had a similar reaction and it only got worse from then on. I tried it again in a year or so and was fine but right now you should put it down.

Gonna assumr that's sarcasm. It's metaphysical, more of a feeling and not the roof of my mouth actually flipping upside down. There are other distortions as well, like feeling like I have inflammed gums or displaced teeth.

I've smoked weed on a daily basis for about 4 or 5 years and I've never experienced anything like that. the worst that has happened to me or anyone I know is a bit of paranoia or social anxiety. maybe you're just paranoid about something being wrong with your mouth and your mind is playing tricks on you. I used to take stimulant drugs regularly and I used to worry about my heart then it would feel like my heart was beating ridiculously fast when i checked but when someone else felt my heart they would say it was normal. maybe it's the same type of thing
