Is it normal for hipsters to make you feel bad about yourself?

If you're white and dress normally? I'm always getting disapproving looks because I'm not covered in tattoos, don't wear enough black and don't have sloppy facial hair. Should I care? I have a career and most of them are judging me from behind a cash register.

A hipster is a person of an imaginary subculture that was invented by people like you.

There are no hipsters, it's not a real thing. It's never existed. Disapproving looks? From who? I'm certain it's just a figment of your paranoia that's spawned from your incessant need to suppress your personality. And everyone working behind a register looks like they hate life. I mean, they work behind a fucking register. Isn't that obvious enough for you? Lol

I think a person should dress for the occasion, whether it be for work or being invited to a function. You do not want to dress worse than your host.

what are u talking about, hipsters are notorious for owning apple products, wearing polo shirts with jeans, and wearing scarves when its 100F. Hipsters aren't famous for not putting enough into their look, they are famous for putting much too much effort into their look, especially for straight men.

You're in the majority, I assure you.

I'm not necessarily going to knock hipster fashion. I genuinely like a lot of their trends, to the degree that people would probably call me a hipster based on how I dress. I don't have the attitude though.

I find this culture of "doing it before it was cool" laughable, coming from teenagers of all people. Teens who don't know that everything they're wearing had been done already before they were even born...

I'm white, have no tattoos and I dress in clothes from chain stores like Chicos or Loft (so very mainstream). I'm also too old to be a hipseter at 38 LOL. Like you said, you have a career and your image helps you keep that career. I think you're smart to do what's best for you, which is what you're doing :)!

Yeah I'm a girl, I can relate. Some of my friends are like that and whenever we go out the topic of tattoos and IPAs always comes up, and apparently I don't wear enough makeup or crop tops too, so yeah!

Hipsters are fucking pretentious douchebags who think they are unique by all dressing the same. They don't have an original idea among them. Have you talked to these people? I have been forced too, not one of them had an IQ over 90.
