Bad dreams can stay with me and put me in a weird mood all day and then amazing dreams can make me feel like shit once I wake up and realise it was a dream, either way dreams can tend to have a way of affecting my waking mood

When I was a kid I liked to eat Top Hat ice cream bars. They cost a nickel. Yeah, that was a little while ago. One night I dreamed I ate so many of them that I awoke feeling sick, and it was several days before I could even think about having another one of them.
As a teen I sometimes dreamed that my step Dad hollered at me for something and when I woke up I would feel so upset that I would just steer clear of him for the rest of the day.
Early in my marriage my wife and I had a lot of issues trying to learn how to get along. Often in my dreams we would have an issue that would put me in such a bad mood that when I woke up I would be growly and irritable which would put her in a bad mood, naturally. It took a while for me to even realize why I was in a bad mood and that the whole issue was my imagination. Then I was able to train myself to only respond to reality and not feelings.
I finally understood what my Mom used to say to me as a child. "Well, it looks like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed!"
