Is it normal for dads to slam doors in anger?
My dad does it all the time. That, and slamming dishes into the sink. And accelerating quickly in his pick up truck.

Not normal.
Your dad must have some kind of anger issues, or mood disorder. Either that, or he's forgot that he's a grown man and decided to throw a temper tantrum fit for a 5 year old.
Sounds normal to me! Sounds like he's married to a totally unreasonable woman who likes to argue a lot and she's a professional arguer and he's just an amateur and so he quickly becomes exasperated and vents, taking out his frustration and anger on things that don't have feelings, like doors and dishes, and if you notice, he doesn't do that as much as he used to because he knows it's immature and he's trying to get a grip because he really loves his family and doesn't want them to be afraid of him, and he's tired of buying new coffee cups and replacing the other things that get damaged.
He clearly has some anger issues but i think its pretty normal what he does.
Anger has its reason and it should be vented out. It's better to slam a door than hurting someone.
Doors, dishes and other things he damages comes to his own expenses.
I suggest you to talk to him about his issues and understand what causes his anger.
If you can help him solve it he will stop slamming doors and other things.
Wish you the best and I hope things will be better soon.
