Is it normal for close friends of opposite sex, to sleep next to each other?
He's a close friend of mine and I am his, we're not necessarily the "bestest friends ever", but pretty up there.
This all started when he wanted my help in trying to make a girl that liked him lose interest. She kept on trying to find ways to hang out with him one-on-one, would get drunk or pretend she's tired to stay over at his apartment.
He calls me up starting the first incident to make sure that he never spends one-on-one time with her either hanging out outside or at his place. He doesn't want her to get the idea that he likes her in any non-friend wise form.
She quickly became very jealous of me (which is what he wanted? to try and shoo her away)...but she wouldn't go away. What's worse is that she works with him and is close with his boss, so it's kind of hard to avoid her?
Now the part that I'm concerned with is that he actually he had me over on days that he was not hanging out with her (which was normal during our college days but we're both recent graduates and have our own apartments).
His roommate moved out recently so he has a two bedroom apartment all to himself.
And we were just talking randomly and he was mentioning how our mutual guy friend does crash at his place after he parties on that side of town and sleeps in the other room - he said it made him feel like he is actually using his large two bedroom apartment to the fullest and that girl who likes him refuses to sleep in there so that's why he was stuck with her the couple times and was real annoyed about it.
And the one week I couldn't be there and hangout and help him out with this girl issue, she slept over his place three times (made a bunch of excuses basically to stay over) and he told me that he was on the opposite side of the bed and basically half yelled at her the whole night to stay on the other side and didn't cuddle with her or anything even though she wanted to.
I mean I know that he does that with her already cause I've seen him do that after the parties that he had at his place and couple times it was three of us on the bed. He refuses to let me sleep on the floor and if I did he would sleep there with me - much to that girl's chagrin.
Now that his roomie moved out, I mentioned that I could sleep in the guest room when I'm over to help him feel like he is using his guest room but he dismissed that idea completely.
We've slept next to each other always since whenever I'm over, as we do hang out multiple times during the weekend or at least weekly to an extent. I live pretty far from the places we hang out so when I asked him long time ago if he minds that I crash whenever I'm in this side of town, he said he doesn't mind.
Nothing happens in bed besides maybe I have my arm over him or him cuddling up next to me.
My question is, is that something normal? Like to be that comfortable sleeping next to a close girl friend or is it not normal and he harbors feelings for me or something?
