Is it normal for boys to pee all over locker rooms and public restrooms?

A couple years ago I overheard my two oldest boys, 11 and 13 bragging about where they've peed, mainly at school or locker rooms. Now I'm not totally naive, I know boys will be boys, so I could imagine them peeing in the showers or missing a urinal, but I was shocked and concerned about where they were peeing.

A few months later I signed my little boy 4 for swimming lessons at the city pool. The lessons where an hour before they opened to public. Since it was only little boys, many moms went into the boys room to help them as girls and their moms where in the girls room. As we walked in I was shocked to see a little boy standing in the showers alone, peeing, without even the showers running. Before we even set down our bags I noticed a boy walk to the end of the row and pee against the wall.

More than a dozen boys and moms had walked in as my son undressed. As they did the little boys where peeing all around us. As this was happening one of the young female coaches walked through and welcomed all of us. As she walk past us my son said to me, "mom I gotta go pee." Despite what going on around us, I said okay and grabbed his hand to walk him to the restroom, especially now that a coach was there. A second much older female coach walked into the room as the younger coach stopped us and said to me, "you know, you don't need to take him to the restrooms, the guys never use them." I must have looked uncertain, because as the older coach approached she announced, "moms, I presume you all realize that as the boys get older they pee everywhere but in the restroom, so unless you're really squeamish about it, just let them go." "We hose the place down a couple times a day anyway, so let them have their peeing contest or do it against a wall, if their shy, it not a problem."

How normal is this? How many boys do this? Do coaches, guards, mom, dad know you do? Moms, coaches, have you seen this, do you care? Girls ever done so?

That's fucked up. Never happen in a private health club. I'd hate to think of the urine content of the pool.

Don't they make a chemical that you put it pools and turns the water a very obvious color if someone starts peeing?

I think you're right. I remember hearing about something like that.

Don't know which is worse, swimming in pee or swimming in some unknown chemical.

When the water changes color they usually have to close the pool and clean it by law becos its a health violation or something. But still I don't go to public pools anyway.

Actually, from what I saw I really doubt that any of the boys peed in the pool, after the first couple awkward days the boys clearly enjoyed doing it in the locker room. If their was anything positive about it, I'm sure it kept the pool much cleaner, as otherwise many of them would have waited and peed the pool.

I do this at work all over the toilet seats and the walls. Sometimes even the sinks and faucets.

The restroom at work is a bit much, but at a pool where everything's wet anyway I doubt there are many guys that would walk over to a restroom, even a guy is shy about it he's just going to go through his swimsuit in a shower.

It's normal because the smell of testosterone/sweat is everywhere and you see a drain there and piss, all your doing instinctively is making your scent more fresh.

It's the same concept as a dog marking it's territory except in a more civilized manner, hence the drain.

You cannot apply this to children. In young boys, testosterone levels are normally low. As puberty approaches — usually between the ages of 10 and 14 — the pituitary gland (a pea-sized gland near the base of the brain) secretes two hormones (luteinizing hormone, or LH; and follicle-stimulating hormone, or FSH) that work together to stimulate the testes to make testosterone.

Never though of that! I just assumed the boys or their moms were being lazy by peeing where they were, the marking they're territory thing never occurred to me. The first couple days the boys where hesitant about it, but after a few weeks it did become a marking their territory and peeing contest, between them.

I'm not a boy or a mom, but a 50 something dad. I swim at the YMCA occasionally with mostly senior men and myself as well as many seniors pee over drains while dressing or in the showers. At the waterpark provided there's only us, people we know or just boys, myself as well as the boys pee wherever, if many strangers I'll step into a corner or something, but we rarely use restrooms.

I used to take swimming lessons at the YMCA when I was young and it was totally normal for boys to take showers with their dads and then everyone would pee in the showers. The public bathrooms and locker rooms weren't the cleanest and I wouldn't recommend anyone walking there barefoot so everyone had flip flops. That being said I don't remember anyone peeing in the locker rooms or on the walls or floors of bathrooms.

If a place of business has truly annoyed me (as in not an oversight, but real lack of valuing my business) I will hose down their restroom or worse. If I just "miss" the urinal they got off light.

I don't think anyone really needed to know that.

Well I can't argue with that.

Marking territory with urine is an inbreed male trait of all animals. Human behavior of both genders is very animalistic. IIN discussions prove this conjecture.
