Is it normal for apartment insulation to be this horrible?

The upstairs neighbors, well one of them, closed their door so fucking hard that it hurt my right ear and gave me a mild headache. Is this apartment life? Hopefully I'll be able to get out of here soon. Strangers aren't meant to be so close in my opinion. Also it's not a big deal, but whenever someone flushes their toilet my water ripples and makes a flushing sound. It's more gross than annoying but the manager already sent someone to try and fix it along with the bath tub dripping, and it's still broken... I've learned to never be under someone.

Sorry, but it's normal for a shitty apartment.

Probably depends on the apartment. I have been living in an apartment since late June, and although it's not especially bad I still don't enjoy living so close to my neighbors.

  • A bit of an update. I'm on the edge of rocking in place. Someone is smoking, I called and the manager doesn't care. I'm crying silently and keep wanting to die. Get me out of here... Who takes a piss ten times from 3-4am? Oh listen, I wonder who pulled into the lot with their music up all the way!

It depends on the apartment. Some are good, some not.

Rent a townhouse or condo from someone. You'll have separate plumbing and most places require a firewall between units so it will be cement block or brick and cut down on outside sound.
