Is it normal for an old man to have a big crush on me?

I work at the library and he works there too. I was nice to him at first because he reminded me of my grandpa. Now I get the feeling he is always trying to be around me and talk to me. It seems like he likes me romantically.

He comes to the library everyday I work even when he is not working. He started to follow me home on his bike one night but I rode too fast for him.

It all started on Thanksgiving when we did the book drop together. I kidded with him a little, and he seemed to like it and became nervous and very excited. He is 60 something, and I am 25. He's seems very aggressive about talking to me. What should I do?

maybe tell him that he reminds you of his grandpa? or mention that you're dating some guy? I hate to advise such indirect/wussy solutions but in a work environment you can't really be blunt since it might create unnecessary drama.

though if he really was following you, then he might be a person who may not get the message nor back off. Be professional and reserved at work. you can't incriminate anyone for talking or hanging around you at work, but please don't be afraid to take action (i.e. report him to your supervisors) if he crosses any boundaries.

I married a man old enough to be my father, and many times these lonely old men are eager to talk to someone younger because they can't get it through their heads that their time has come and gone.

Is it commonplace and normal with older men? Sure. Is it creepy? Yes, unless he's willing to be your sugardaddy. Work it, girl!

I don't understand why people expect him to shower her with gifts and spend money on her as a way of showing affection. Just because she's a young woman? That's called sexism and it's also taking advantage of someone, playing with their emotions. Why should an older man be made to feel that the only chance he has for spending quality time with a young lady and the only way he can attract her is by material things? Two people from different backgrounds and different age groups can have meaningful interactions with each other if they learn to respect each other as people and individuals and not have preconceived notions of how the other person should act.

        You are an extremely ignorant young person. You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I am not wrong and in many very civilized parts of the world younger women are mistresses to older men and it is not only accepted, but common.
        You do not sound like someone who has much, if any, experience with sex, so it is quite likely anything you are saying is more theoretical than based on first hand experience.
