Is it normal for an alcoholic to get a buzz from a half teaspoon of vanilla?
I've been sober for half a year. I made cookies with vanilla extract and ate some of the dough raw, and got a buzz for a few minutes. Is this even possible?

Maybe you wanted a buzz so bad that your mind made you think you had a buzz.
Psychosomatic, unless you are taking whatever that drug is that makes alcoholics puke if they have any alcohol (but even then you'd just puke, not get a "buzz").
Its like that old trick of pouring a glass of Coke, wiping the rim with a cloth dipped in Scotch, and giving it to the drunk guy. Most of the time he won't even notice he's really not drinking anything.
It's a psychosomatic trigger. These things are covered in the Big Book, dude. So now you know to stay the fuck away from vanilla extract. Remember: People, Places and "Things." Smells a little like bourbon doesn't it?
I can see it being psychosomatic. A lot of alcoholics seem to "split" their drunk self from their sober self, and it seems possible for your drunk self to be triggered by the smell of alcohol. Alcohol creates a lot of state-dependent memory.
Most extracts are alcoholic, but you'd need a hell of a lot more than a half teaspoon.
