Is it normal for a university student to smoke pot once or twice a day?

I'm in university, I take it really seriously & when the day is done and I've finished all my studying I really like to smoke a bowl of pot or two. I do this once or twice a night, it relaxes me, but I'm concerned about the effects it might have on my memory. Is it normal to smoke everyday after all my school work is done?

The biggest stoners I've known throughout my life have also gotten the best grades. Dean's list, honor roll, magna cum laude, whatever. Smoking weed every day doesn't mean you're going to start injecting PCP into your eyeballs or whatever the kids are doing nowadays. I'm in college, I smoke weed pretty much every day when I'm going to bed and my homework's done. If that's not normal, then I don't wanna be.

Stop it. Worry about school and your future. Don't let a stupid thing like pot ruin your chances to get the best out of your life. Leave the Pot behind.

No. You're not. Almost all companies drug test prior to hiring and then again randomly throughout your employment. You need to talk to a counselor to find better ways to manage your stress. Eventually it'll take three bowls, then four, then some hash, then...then...then...to get you where you want to be. If you're serious about school, want to get a good job when you get out, and keep that job then find better ways to de-stress. The stressors outside of school are ten times worse than the ones in school and if you can't cope constructively you'll fail out here and have a hardscrabble life.

I'm a university student myself and I smoke pot at least once a day. If it doesn't affect your grades or way of life it's fine. Many college students smoke pot, however the majority don't daily, although some do. I also no many people who dont. This doesn't make it bad. It's perfectly normal to use weed for anxiety. It's part of the medical benefits marijuana can have. It's also normal if you don't smoke. A personal choice.

Not only is it normal but it's really common, I would say the majority of people I knew in high school and college, even after college smoked weed on a daily basis. And all of these people got their work done, most had jobs, had relationships with their families (whether or not they knew about the weed) and had pretty good lives in general.
As long as you are being responsible, and have your priorities in order then there's nothing wrong with smoking weed (although it's illegal, so be careful). It's actually a great social tool in college.

  • I don't think it's a big deal if your maintaining your life and some good grades. If you're only smoking it 1-2 times a day, then you're going to be sober the majority of the time your are awake, so it's not like your stoned non-stop. It doesn't kill braincells or damage your mind: that's just retarded nonsense and cannot be backed up by anything remotely scientific. It is still illegal in most of the world and if the consequences for getting caught are too high in your country, you may want to consider sticking to something a little more legal, like booze, or move to a different country where people are more open-minded and accepting towards marijuana.

I feel like I can't concentrate as good on my school work if I go without smoking too long - even after it's out of my system. I get all stressed and take everything too seriously and kind of freak out when deadlines get tight. I do good in school, but sometimes I wonder if I could be doing more. All in all I do think I'm on the right path though.... Do you?
