Is it normal for a straight guy to despise having to go to a strip club stag?

A good friend of mine is getting married and in a few days i'm going to the stag night. I was looking forward to it untill I found out. I'm not in a relationship so that's not the issue, I just feel like it's so degrading and frankly really akward. It's just really not my thing. I'm attracted to women as much as the next guy but I find the idea of guys paying women to grind them whilst topless is just sad. Not to mention the fact that i'm a shy guy. I just feel that not only is it a cliché but it's 2013 why are we still doing this? am I the only one?

The majority of strip clubs I've seen do just seem trashy and awkward. It's easy money for attractive women but I don't see how a man can get pleasure from a woman who he knows wouldn't come near him if he wasn't paying her.

I think it's more awkward because it's like watching soft core porn with all your friends. YIKES.

Good on you, you seem to have your head screwed on! It's always good when a man thinks with his head and heart rather than his dick, frankly. As time goes on, I think many more men will have your kind of attitude over this. Also, remember some men probably go along with it because of peer pressure... and in reality, they may have objections as well. If you really don't want to take part in this bit of the stag, you could say. Yeah sure, people might take the mickey but hey, so what? So the actual what? As long as you explain. It depends where it's happening, though and what else you're doing. If it's only going to be like 20% of the stag party, then you could apologise and just make sure you join in with the rest. Hopefully the stag would understand...? : / Or you could take a book?! I'm actually serious.

I see strip clubs as a weird combination of exhibitionism and voyeurism. For some women and some men it's great fun I'm sure. For everyone else, it's just perplexing.

I wouldn't want to go either, stag or not.

I went. I only stayed there for half hour it was all I could take lol. Despite telling the girls in the nicest way that they were attractive but it wasn't my thing they just don't listen andtry to carry on. Thing is they saw I was shy and seemed to single me out because of it. Futhermore it wasn't a good establishment it was dirty and horrible but some of the girls were honestly beautiful, half the people there were being assholes to them. everyone in there deserves better than that. It's depressing to see.

I've never seen the point of going to a strip club and getting all turned on, but not be able to get relief from the girls.
When I was young and in the merchant marine, I'd go to clubs in foreign lands, but the girls were available for more than leering at and tucking a few dollars into their g-strings. Frankly, even that got pretty boring after the newness wore off and I usually found a "steady" girl with whom I'd spend my time when I was in port, even if she was charging me for our time together.
Go and enjoy your friend's stag party, though it sounds like you'll not be a frequent visitor to places like that.

I'm a guy and feel the same way - good on you!

(Mind you, I didn't always feel the same - someone had to point it out to me. I probably would have got there myself eventually, after a few more strip shows...)
