Is it normal for a parent to sit with a teenager and help them study for exams?

If you are not willing to study, is it normal that one of your parents takes it upon themselves to sit with you, to help you, to make shortened notes for you, to print off past papers to test you, and then to ask you test questions orally?

I appreciate the help and encouragement but would most of you get this sort of help from a parent?

Is it normal for them to dedicate so much of their time to help you get good grades?

That's great but teenager means they will go to college in a few years and in college you have to study independently

No, my parents just let me get down to it, although that sounds really helpful

My parents never did that for me, but then again, I didn't need any help.

My Dad would never physically sit down with me to make sure I understood stuff but he did help me. I remember that when I was little, around 7 or so, he bought me a journal and told me to write in it everyday and it'll help improve my writing. It actually worked. However, I think what you're parents are doing is great and more adults should strive be like them.
