Maybe if the daughter is 5 years old and is excessively touching herself, the mother should draw a line. Otherwise - no, not normal at all.

Yep, that'll screw up the kid to no end. Ain't fucked up mothers great?
That's every bit as much abuse as beating a kid regularly, and perhaps much more damaging. She sounds sick to me.

  • Not a good idea. "Touching of oneself" is perfectly normal behavior (and almost certainly totally harmless).

Furthermore, if a child is discouraged from doing such things, it MAY give them the incentive to seek out inappropriate relations with others. "If I can't do it, maybe I can find someone else to do it for me."

Admittedly this hypothesis is speculative, but clearly not without merit.

You've made other posts about your mother, and I have to say she sounds very overbearing and based on your questions, somewhat emotionally abusive. Is there a possibility that perhaps you can live away from her?

Get out of there asap, and in the meantime don't let her get in your head. This woman sounds scary and crazy.

Well Honey, I'm sorry your mom thinks she has a right to tell you what to do with your own body! I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Try your best to get out from under her thumb. Try to move out on my own unless she can afford to pay for your college education. There's no reason to stick around that kind of oppression.

For the most part it's your body to do with as you please.

Not normal at all. It's actually parenting at its worst.

Masturbation is a natural function, and a great way to relieve yourself without actually going out and having sex.
It's basically the safest way to get pleasure.

    I think that's very creepy.
Obviously parents don't like to think about their kids masturbating, but they should understand that it's normal, everybody does it.

I had the same thought as Avant. Some religions say its against the rules to touch yourself.
