Is it normal for a mother to be dissapointed in her daughters sexuality?

i cut school to hang out w a "friend" who is really my female lover. My teacher called and told my mom i had left early. When i got home i got my phone taken away and searched. My mom found conversations and pictures between me & the girl. she became disappointed and kept me stranded of all my friends... is it normal ?

Are you sure she's disappointed with your sexuality? If I were in her situation I would be more disappointed that you hid it. I mean, that wasn't the easiest way for her to find out, she's probably more in shock than anything else.

However, it isn't uncommon for parents to be unhappy with their child's sexuality. Hopefully, she'll adapt.

I believe banana made a good point. Maybe she is also upset you ditched school to go see a friend/lover. I think a mother would be angry if you did to go see a boy. Word of advice though "Always erase your messages". My parents would search me and my siblings stuff all the time. Even if we were behaving.

Well if she is disappointed with your sexuality, then try to not let it effect you too much. Some people are just that way unfortunately.

It's normal, since people who grew up many years ago to have a hostile attitude towards homosexuality. It depends on how conservative your mom is when it comes to relationships, or what her religious beliefs are. Usually, people who are catholic christians or muslims (jews also? I don't know really..) are taught that homosexuality is unnatural and should be fought, but I've learned that religion varies with the kind of people who believe in it. The point I'm trying to make is that your mom probably doesn't really want to accept the fact that she doesn't have a "normal" daughter and that makes her upset, I'd say.
However, don't you dare give in to homophobia! You should be proud of who you are, no matter what you believe in or who you chose to make love to.

She grew up in a chrisian home & she tries to adapt christianity within my home , but im still growing to make my own decisions when it comes to my religion. I knew she doesnt understand my sexuality & its not meant for her too, i just want her to respect that i am who i am and i dont plan on changing just because she doesnt "accept it". I feel like if she wants to be in my life, she will eventually accept it. Thank you so much !

...Uh, unless OP lives in a god-awful society, I don't think she'd go to prison for cutting class. She might get in trouble with the police or something, but they wouldn't lock her up, they'd probably just send her back to school or something.

Try a regular town and most towns you go to jail for this I do not know what place you go to but some places are responsible enough to want thier kids not skipping class all day and running around in the streets . Also I dont know were you live were the schools say its perfectly exceptable to skip school all day for no reason . I know what they do the police give you a ticket if your lucky and if your not lucky a court date . unless you tell me her area and mine I cant measure it but were I live its a really big deal if you dont go to school police give you a charge and if you do it 3 times than you get a few days in jail . I dont know what country you are in but its a really big deal here and I guess your country doesnt care about school but ours does ALOT .

I don't know everything that's going to in this situation, so maybe I shouldn't be talking, but I think maybe she's more disappointed that you cut school to see this girl. I mean, your sexuality is your sexuality, but cutting school isn't okay and if I was your mother, frankly, I'd take your phone away from you too. It would be the same whether the person you are seeing is a boy or a girl. You may have feelings for her, but if she's so important that she distracts you from your priorities, then maybe you don't need to be seeing her.
