Where I go to college there is a boys bathroom right next to the girls bathroom. I swear there is only a wall separating the two. I have been sitting in one of the stalls of the boys bathroom and I could hear girls on the other side of the wall talking. I just think it's awkward.
Most public restrooms are constructed that way because it efficiently keeps the septic plumbing all in one area.
Where have you been living your whole life that this wouldn't be a normal thing?
Since you can hear them talking just chime in or yell, " shut up you stank hoes, I'm trying to take a dump here!"
Yes, from an engineering stand point its easier and more cost efficient to use the same pipes to carry both male and female feces to turd city.
It's normal - it's usually down to plumbing and building layout. The office I work at has this on every floor.
Actually, on the floor I work on, there is a hole in the wall between the boys and girls toilets up by the window. So you can hear everything. You could probably pass each other messages through the gap if you were so inclined.
Makes you wonder what the point of even having a wall there is? Just have one unisex bathroom with multiple cubicles.
