One time I saw my guy friend rebuckle his belt after he briefly went to the bathroom to pee at my house.

If the trousers are tight fitting or the fly is short it is a good way to keep from pissing down your leg if you loosen your pants first!
I don't know how anyone does it by unzipping your fly, unbuttoning your boxers and then just pulling your penis out. I tried that once and I was fumbling around for ages. If you weren't wearing boxers it'd be easier alright, but then that'd be weird. Instead I unbuckle my belt, unbutton & unzip my jeans, and then pull my jeans & boxers down so my penis can come out over them.
I wear boxer briefs that don't have a fly, so in order to urinate, I need to pull down the front of the briefs. I could do that by sticking a finger into the fly of my trousers, reaching up to the waistband of the briefs and yanking it down, but it's easiest - and less likely to lead to an accidental mess - if I just undo my trousers, lower them a little, and then pull down the front of my briefs.
It feels like strangling yourself from the wrong neck. This happens when the zipper is too short, normally on very modern looking pants. I did at first think it was because of the Chinese imports, and them being somewhat different.
Now, I am very careful when looking for new trousers!
Absolutely normal! Penises are super sensitive! I wouldn't want my dick rubbing up against that zipper WHATSOEVER, so I always unbuckle and pull the entire thing out to take a piss. No exception!
