Is it normal for a forum to do this?

This was a just for fun forum. Not a help forum like IIN. I got voted off the island. Generally I was very helpful, made interesting threads(most people just found bizarre) and ended up quickly becoming more popular than the seniors on site.

Eventually the senior members started making threads attacking me, and going around the site commenting on threads to harass me. I eventually had to leave, and the site mods did pretty much nothing about this even though they were all going against several of the site guidelines. I auctully never broke any.

Though since it was popular vote, I got suspended. They complained I made too many threads but I auctully did not post a lot. I just posted everyday. Where most people would post once a week and I was usually on when the website was empty. Even though the site rewarded people for posting more, and activity encouraged it. It was auctully only the group of seniors since most everyone else liked me. Mostly because I was very friendly and loved welcoming new people. So the new people loved me.
