Is it normal for a dream to affect me this much?

Last night I had a dream. I can't remember the specific details but I do know I met someone. She wasn't a friend or someone I know, just a person who I started talking to in the dream.

Over the course of the dream we built up a good relationship that was akin to boyfriend/girlfriend. When I woke up I felt a sense of loss and felt lonely. I've never felt lonely before. I have friends, but I haven't had a girlfriend. I'm only now realising what I'm missing out on.

I can probably think of reasons why I don't have a gf. But now I want someone to love and have a good time.

So there you have it. Is this normal?

  • Try working on making people who exist in your dream world become recurrent. Once you can do this you will gain a circle of dream friends and can have several worlds similar to this one where there are recurrent themes and live other lives. This in only one of the many realities we have but it seems most people don't notice what's going on.

What? How? Thats cool, and having some control over my dreams might help. I did it once, but then i lost control and it went bad.. its been years since that andi havent really tried to again.

      • I suppose to do this you need to be aware that you are dreaming. I often know what's going on which makes it easier to control my dreams. I'm not sure how I do it. It just happens that way.

I've had a dream like that before and it sucked when I woke up and thought oh, he was only a dream. Don't worry, you'll find yourself a girlfriend in real life, what's the point of having one that is literally in your dreams? If you don't feel confident then take a chance!
