All the black people I've known that liked metal were cool dudes. I actually wish more black people would listen to different stuff just to be one less thing to fuel stereotypes as black people already got enough of em.

That's some dumb shit. For the record, I'm black, but I can't stand how most black people feel like they must follow some kind of imaginary rulebook stating that you must only listen to rap/hip hop/R&B. Race shouldn't matter when it comes to personal taste, period.

Well, I grew up in the music scene (my dad was a stage tech my mom's a musician/singer), so I'm open-minded; I've seen all different types of people who like punk/metal/hard rock -- it's completey normal to me! :]

I've been listening to punk and metal since I was 14. I play bass for two bands and sing for another and ALL I listen to is punk, thrash, metal, and some goth here and there. You are just as normal as I am.

If someone says stuff about you for being black and listening to punk, I suggest you show them the Bad Brains, who are probably one of the most influential punk bands, and they're all black.

There's also thrash metal bands like Hirax and death metal bands like Suffocation who have black frontmen. So if black people can play those genres, they can certainly listen to them.

Nah, I'm a black female and my favorite bands are Cradle of Filth (Black metal) and Blink 182 (Punk) I also love musicals..... but people always expect me to be into rap... I only like Eminem.

Well, I trash most rap music. My son plays it all the time. I tell him to turn it off. Most of what he listens to I call hate music. I also can't stand opera, heavy metal. I love Mowtown, R&B, and soft rock.
