Is it normal for a 13 yr. old girl to not want anyone sitting next to her?

I know this young teenager who hates for people to sit next to her. She dosen't like anyone near here. It doesn't matter who you are she hates it when you sit by her.

No. She should want people to sit next to her. 46

  • Maybe she has been sexually molested and needs MAJOR psychological help..

Maybe the folks that sit next to her smoke; stink, or sneeze into her air with their cold germs, or fart, or pick their nose, or have lice, or suck their teeth, or babble racist dribble, or just display a carnival of offensive behaviors and she doesn't want her space invaded by that when she was "fine" before they came around contaminating her space.... Maybe she doesn't want to make "small talk" with some idiot, or smile to make them happy, or think about the possible "blue waffle" or "special fried rice" that is planted inches away from her body... What? She didn't ask this diseased person to occupy her formerly free space.....

Go away!!! People are disgusting!!!! Arrrrgh!!!!

    Could that be it?

She really should get some mental help, though, if she is rejecting her parents or her grand parent's...

It could be social anxiety. Granted I'm no doctor or psychologist, but I do have the same issues as her (I can't stand if anyone, including friends and family, invades my personal space), and that's due to my bad social anxiety. Does she get panicky or tense if someone gets close to her?

Then again, it could be that she's just a normal human being who doesn't like people invading her bubble :) There are plenty of people like that anyway.

there might have been or are some problems in her life right now I suggest to be nice to her and if she wants space give it to her

I think maybe she not wanting to, or unable to, trust society and the people around her or is closterphobic. The closer they get to her phyically the more she trys to push away so she is able to breath and not feel trapped

  • OK, all you people who are calling her a freak or whatever... LAY OFF!! I'm just like that. I'm not afraid to say it. Even if it's my brother or my mom or dad, I still want my own space. I can't exactly explain why, but I really just like having my own space and comfort. So seriously, nothing wrong with that.

She could have a behavioural / psychological / personality disorder. She could have problems at home. Lots of possible reasons, but it isn't normal.

She might not want anyone to sit next to her because it's her problem and no one else. Maybe she has body odor or she's the one with lice. <BR>And when you look at it that way, she's a good person for tryimg to keep others out of harms way.
