Is it normal for a 4 year old girl to have body hair

My roommates' daughter has had hair on her arms, legs, and back ever since I've known her when she was three. Its not thick hair but it is definitely visible.

Yes, it's normal. Genetics, that's all. I've seen tons of mini-Frida-Kahlos in my life! I think they're so cute and I know that when they mature they will definitely pluck and tweeze and wax and shave and get rid of the Frida look. It saddens me a little.

  • Is the little girl white? I'm not trying to be a racist or something here but its a common known fact that certain ethnicities tend to be more hairy than others. I've seen some indian girls with noticable facial hair. If she's indian or perhaps another race it could just be normal.

Yes it is normal because even some girls at 4 years old have not only back and arm hair, but pubic hair! Its just how her body grows!

Surely, she goes to doctors, right? If it was something serious, I hope that the doctor would have been competent enough to know this much less say it.

Some people are hairier than others. For some, it's do to genetics. For others it is hormonal. (etc.)

I've always been rather hairy since I was a child. I had hairs in places that are associated with puberty, long before I got my period. I had and still have a bit of a moustache. (etc.) I think my case is simply hormonal.

From what I've seen since I've been here they only go to the emergency room when it's serious.

Well, i'm sure, that in a case like that that they would bring up the hair. Actually, medical professionals can reference anything they may feel as being out-of-place, when seeing patients.

Im dont know what its called, but there is a condition that causes people to grow an abnormal amount of hair from an early age. Not very common though.
