what kind of drugs are we testing?

It will be normal if you started random drug testing. Some clinics offer different types of drug testing. The most common is a urine test and the easiest to pass but there's also a mouth swab drug test which detects drug usage a bit longer but what I recommend is a hair sample drug test. Don't matter what drug was used for whatever time prior to testing it will detect with accuracy.

Dont test for weed

Many of the 'hard' drugs can be detected through hair samples, for a long, long time. If you are in a high security or DOT related industry, you are not going to get by the testing with some little 'clean kit'.
Don't fool yourself, there are drug tests out there that will ruin your life, if you don't take them seriously.

Make sure to leave the pot users alone :) I am glad to hear such a truthful perspective . I would say test the hair follicles , they won't escape that ! Why do you want to test for hard drugs though? are there drugs being done in the work place?

Check this with an attorney, but if you don't have required drug testing (like with gov't contracts, regulated industries, etc.) I'm pretty sure that if you choose to test, you can only test for harder drugs and not pot. Where I used to work, they did test for all drugs, including pot. Policy was you "could" be fired for testing positive. One guy I knew, who was a great employee, got caught in a random test - positive for pot. They told him they'd let him retest in 30 days and if he was clean then all was forgotten. Rumor was that if it happened to people they didn't like, they'd just fire them without the 30 day deal. Our management was mostly a bunch of 60's and 70's partiers, so they were cool about it.

Sorry- don't have time to google this and confirm that it's even true, but I THINK you can drug test hair instead of urine, and that provides evidence of hard drug use.
