Is it normal deffending oneself always ends poorly?

This seems to be very consistent and never fails. I defend myself in school and I get suspended. I tell the teachers I was bullied and they threatened to send me to the psych ward since they said I was lying. I stood up to kids at school since they were bullying me for being poor I got beaten and chased.

Post high school. I complain about people bullying me on website so I get booted since majority rule stands. I stood up to my dad who was badmouthing my mom I got kicked out. I stood up to my mother who was having violent outbursts and asked her to stop I got in trouble again. It seems society is set up to punish people for defending themselves.

Often you'll get beaten down for standing up, it's normal. But standing up is still immensely important. It's not just about what you can actually change about a situation, but also what it does to you as a person. As long as you keep fighting for what's right you'll stay truly alive.
Sure, if you gave up, kept your mouth shut and just accepted the injustice around you, things would be easier. But to quote a wise man: "What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?"
I hope your life will turn around for the better soon. Don't give up! I wish I had your strength.

It sounds like a very terrible conspiracy. The people involved likely have no conscious awareness of what they're doing. Keep that in mind.

I've done this sort of thing all my life and i pay a price for it, but the price for shutting up in the face of injustice would be much harder for me to pay.

I have however learnt (well some of the time) to choose my battles and not take on people who have the power to make things worse for me. The other thing I've learnt but still forget sometimes, is that it's easier to fight injustice in company with other likeminded people, rather than by yourself.

A strong sense of injustice and the desire to right wrongs can be a heavy burden, but if some of us weren't like that what sort of a world would it be?

Stay strong but look after yourself as well

Hey, there's a lot more to changing the world than rosy feelings and singing kumbya and I know only too well that threatening the status quo brings punishment from those in power ...... hasn't stopped me yet

There are very few situations where defending yourself verbally turns out for the best.
Obviously, defending your mother in a domestic situation is admirable, but did you really expect it to turn out differently than it did? I'm certainly not saying he was right, just that his actions should have been expected, because I'm guessing he was a bit of an ass, at least some of the time.
People in authority often abuse their power and you should understand that, going into any situation where you feel like challenging that authority.
In my profession, whether I had four college students working for me, or a couple of hundred men and women from many different countries, anyone who made waves, for any reason, just wasn't worth having around. I didn't have the time, energy or patience to listen to excuses. The job had to be done my way because I was the one in charge (and the one responsible), because I was supposedly the most experienced and knowledgeable person aboard. Not because I was a hard ass, but because people's lives were at stake, if those working for me didn't do their jobs properly. We were a team, but every team has to have a leader.
I'm sorry and it sucks, but that is the way of the world and at a young age I learned quite quickly that if I wanted to work on any vessel, I'd better just keep my mouth shut and do my job.

STWC? The CG finally had to grandfather me in. Life wouldn't be any fun at all if I didn't get into some kind of battle with them, every 5 years or so.
