Is it normal creeped out by this man

In high school we had a temporary teacher who was also the mentor for our class for like one or two terms as our regular teacher/mentor had given birth.
He gave me creepy vibes for no particular reason. I remember once I was sitting in an empty hallway waiting for my boyfriends lesson to end it was close to 5 PM so most people had gone home and this teacher came walking past me going out and he stopped and said "goodbye" for no reason and the way he said it seemed creepy. Also during this time period I started seeing him at the café where me and my boyfriend always went to. He'd always sit there and everytime me and my boyfriend came in he'd stare at me but he never waved or said hello or anything just stared at me.
Fast forward 2 years after graduation I was out at the mall and I see this man and he sees me and he's heading out but he STOPS in the middle of his step and turns around when he sees me, taking a step in my direction while staring at me but then changes his mind and leaves I got a weird vibe it was because there was people around. I've continued seeing him around but ive never been alone and I just always get creepy vibes I was wondering if that makes sense. Even my boyfriend at the time (who was kinda a jerk) disliked that teacher for some reason he couldnt explain

Listen to your heart, and follow your gut instincts when it comes to creepy people.

Yes, being careful not to react in a creepy way that triggers a chain reaction of excitement. I've seen this happen before. Deescalation can usually be accomplished by physically turning your back. Confrontation is risky to use as a first move.

  • Yeah I guess in America 40 year old teachers are encouraged to date their students and stuff

It could be many things, but follow you instincts and stay away from him. If you think he’s stalking you, report him to the police. There may be others that he’s doing this to,

Maybe he's totally harmless and socially clueless, but I strongly believe that women should _always_ go with their gut feelings about people. Men, too, but guys generally aren't quite so good at picking up subtle non-verbal clues about people and - generally speaking - the possible consequences of getting it wrong aren't quite as dire.

If you read creepiness where it doesn't exist and simply make it a point to keep your distance from the person, the worst that's likely to happen is that the other person's feelings might be hurt. And while lots of women have been socialised to believe that they should strive to never hurt anyone's feelings, it's not your role in life to make everyone you meet happy.

He's either borderline autistic/awkward social anxiety type guy or he wants to lock you away in his basement.

I honestly doubt he is autistic.

If I had to apply Occam's razor in this situation I would think he's just an awkward dude.
