Is it normal characters in "land before time" are based on different families.

little foot: has no mom and dad Spike: is retarded and adopted Sarah: Only has a dad Petri: is a nerd and small. Little foot lives with his grandparents which is not ordinary for most children. Spike seems kind of slow and is adopted so possibly retarded. Sarah lives with her dad which could mean either a widower or symbolism for divorce. Petri is puny possibly like the class nerd. They are all little so they do not notice these flaws. They just love each other for who they are. Am I reading too into it? Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

      I did not forget ducky. She is spikes younger sister. She does not seem to have any issues though. However his mother was nice enough to adopt another dinosaur that is not part of their family or species. She seems like a typical little sister. Though the way she speaks seems a little odd thinking about it. "We must that do that, oh no no no. Oh yes yes yes that is a great Idea! yes yes yes". Though watching it now I find her incredibly irritating as I do most of the other characters in the series.
