Is it normal autistic people have to learn to care?
Basically if you're on the spectrum is it normal to not care about anything that's supposedly important in the world unless someone convinces you to? For example I don't care about sex, relationships, drugs, politics etc. and people make a big deal about all those things. So I'm trying to learn how people care so much about it and kind of pretend I do just to feel normal in life.
personally i didn't have any strong desire to be in a relationship or have sex but society makes such a big deal out of it i feel like i have to or else there something wrong with me. there is a guy who loves me a lot so I'm making myself learn to feel the same just because of him and that it's the right(normal) thing to do.
Another way this happens is when something that wouldn't bother me, bothers someone else. I know it's common for autistics to lack empathy but I don't have a complete lack, I just can't "feel" it for others when things happen to them that wouldn't bother me personally (and there is not a lot that does).
Is this normal? Is this an autistic thing? Or something else?
