Im a highschool gym teacher/soft ball coach... I've been teaching for a while now and I love it... But theres this student thats in one of my classes that for some reason I've grown fond of, shes 19, Latina(Puerto Rican), and somewhat popular amongst her peers, she also plays for my softball team... For some reason I feel attached to this student as if she was my own daughter, whenever a boy tries to approach her I feel like my fatherly instincts want to kick in, I've witnessed her have her heartbroken by a boy and I consoled and talked to her about it as if she really was my daughter... Sometimes I go out of my way to really help her with school... So my question is...

Is it weird that I feel attached to one of my students? I feel like shes a daughter to me

    As long as this isn't a "daughter" you want to have sex with it seems fine. Most parents would appreciate a mentor looking out for their child as if it was their own. Just don't get weird man.

    Well, you've consoled her during heartbreak, you must see and interact with her quite often, and it seems that you genuinely care for her, I don't see what's weird about this, it's only human instinct to get attached to people in some sort of way. Just make sure it doesn't turn weird or her parents flip out on you for basically having her back.
