Is it normal a guy i'm seeing lives with his mom and doesn't have a license?

I'm seeing a 30 year old man who lives with his mom and still doesn't have a drivers license and this kinda annoys me. He say he's saving money to move out and is studying to take his license test again. He's taken the permit test before but he failed a couple times and another time it expired. I'm honestly just about to end this because it's kind of embarrassing and frustrating to me.

The living with the parent thing is actually pretty normal. I've seen many college educated people(some with kids and a spouse) who still live with their parents due to how expensive things are these days and the fact that their college education only left them in crippling debt and not a stable job. Not having a driver's licence is not normal though. That's the kind of thing one prepares for when they're a teenager or in their early twenties.

      Driver's license is simply unnecessary.

And who cares if it's normal or not. Sigh, the criteria people use to judge people and relationships is sad.

A-freakin'-men, sistah! (On the living-at-home thing... I didn't get my license 'til summer of my freshman year, and I STILL haven't had a reason to drive...)

I'm only a junior (well, in two months), but even I know the economy sucks. There are articles all over the web by reputable magazines and papers (Forbes, The Economist, New York Times...) about how a record number of 20- and 30-something year olds have had to move back home due to underemployment and unemployment. I don't think money is a sign of character, especially in a super-ugly economy (jobs outsourced, large corporations allowed to set up shop in the developing world to circumvent the citizen protective laws we have here that "they" don't have "there," a massive replacement of decent pre-recession jobs with low-wage service jobs...).

However, if I felt someone I was dating judged me because I make only so much money or I live a typical student's lifestyle, I'd dump him. Fast.

I think that people are harsh on people in this day and age. Sure, a lot of people are just lazy, spoiled spunges who live off their parents.. but times changed. Old people are clogging up the job market. Not out of spite but probably out of necessity.
You can't afford to retire at the age of 55 anymore. Life is just too expensive and people live longer lives these days. Partly because of better medical hooha and also because of easy jobs with no physical demands (because of better and more advanced technology). So now people can work longer, they live longer...and it can make it very difficult to get a job and buy property if you are just a guppy.

Having said that, I don't live with my parents and I have a great job that pays well.

You should probably end it. He's had 12 years to get his life together, he isn't going to do it anytime soon.

omg no driving license?! *gasp* what a turn off! Only guys who pollute the atmosphere are sexy.

Kinda see your point on the "still living with mummy" thing though. Anyone older than I'll say 24 at the very oldest still living with their parents needs a kick up the arse.

People who judge based on age and societal standards have some growing and thinking to do. This is an extreme turn off, because it shows a lack of independent thinking.

This unreflected and generic "living with mummy" bashing is retarded and shallow. You can easily live there and be a productive and independent person taking care of herself.

Some possible reasons for people who can't think further than in numbers and narrow views:

It can be a necessity because of financial reasons when studying, in Europe 25 would be the normal age to finish studies, btw.

Other reasons like health/problems can apply, too.

Next thing you people say is that unemployed or disabled people should be ashamed of themselves.

Just think before you reply out of supposed superiority or thinking people are just lazy. That shows you have experience and empathy.

You sound like you want to show off your bfs social status and have insecurities if he doesn't meet your shallow expectations.

The only valid point in your complaint is that you think he doesn't go in the direction you want. But the judgemental part is not a sign of a grown up woman, but someone who needs to be taken care of, and therefore can't handle a guy who needs the same.

In today's urban life many people don't get a driver's permit anymore, it is simply unnecessary.

His age also doesn't matter, when he is saving up for an apartment or house. Stop acting like an entitled brat.

Breakup and grow up more before you try to get into a serious relationship.
