Iin: 19 years old don't know how to drive no friends no job.......

Here is my situation.

- I am 19 years old
- In college (3.7 GPA so far)
- Don't know how to drive and have no license
- I don't have a job
- I live with my parents and with three other younger siblings.
- I have no friends.

I do want to drive, get a job, and have friends. The reason why I don't have these or do these things is that I am scared of how my mother will react. When I ask her to drive me to the library for school work, which takes ten minutes tops, she gets VERY VERY VERY angry. My older brother actually asked for a job and to go to places. He had to endure six months of constant yelling and screaming (lots and lots of arguing). He eventually moved to his girlfriend's house. It is not the yelling and screaming I am scared of, it is disappointing and letting down my mother, even if she is sometimes irrational.

You may not realize this, but your mother sounds very emotionally unstable. You can doddle around your whole life trying to please her (which you probably never will) and sacrifice your entire future, or you can recognize that you need to focus on YOU and move out ASAP. Your mother sounds as if she is infantilizing all her children to fulfill her own voids. Reach out to people in class. Use online to meet people. It's better to live in squalor and own yourself than it is to live in a nice house walking on eggshells every minute of the day.

Nah, your parents obviously have a shitload of money, just milk it until they die.

your too old to have your parents taking that much control of you. first of all get a licence, not a car, just a licesnce. then id say that you need to really give your mom the down low on how your too old to not have any freedom. try to get a job to earn some money, just a small one that will allow you to pay for your own stuff. and meanwhile try to find someone to borrow a car from and get your mom to let you use hers. then just TRY TO GET OUT OF HER REACH. move out. my opinion. i would know, ive not old enough. but hopefully it helps.

OMG, move out and live with people at college - it's supposed to be the best time of your life! You're mother's problems can't hold you back in life. My Mum is nuts, so I don't live with her. I just couldn't.

    p.s. I'm 26 and can't drive!
